State Advisory Council

The State Advisory Council (SAC) is led by the NC State Extension director and functions on behalf of NC State Extension to advocate with government and community leaders, to market program impacts, promote development of resources, ensure relevance of programming to meet local needs, and to serve as a liaison between County Advisory Councils and state Extension administration.

The State Advisory Council is made up of six representatives from each of Extension's five districts, five state-level appointees, and one N.C. A&T State University Strategic Planning Council liaison for a total of 36 volunteers. Each member serves a three-year term and is eligible for a second three-year term for a maximum of six years of continuous service.

The SAC meets twice per year in person to align with NC legislative functions. Additional meetings are held bi-monthly online as needed.
